Level Up Fast With This Diablo 4 Barbarian Build!

Having trouble slogging out the campaign with your barbarian in Diablo 4? Fear not, wanderer! This simple build I’m about to show you scales well with the campaign as the challenge progresses, and is well rounded enough to get you through almost any early game challenge! Keep reading for a reliable leveling Diablo 4 Barbarian build!

This is going to be a pretty basic caveman build focused around decent survivability and light AOE damage while focusing on direct damage to get you through some of the tricky boss fights and early game dungeons. However, this build is not fully optimized for endgame, and is simply a good, reliable build that anyone can use while pushing through early game. We’ll have some endgame builds after some more experimentation!

I’m also going to show the perks in the order I acquired them, as this build doesn’t fully rely on a cornerstone, late game perk and scales nicely throughout. So, when in doubt, follow the numbers and get them in the specified order to make sure your process is as smooth as possible. Make sure to take off any gear that gives you extra levels in certain skills when acquiring them! That can mess up your total perk count and force you to spend points on skills you won’t be using right now.

Diablo 4 Barbarian Early Game Skill List

Remember to acquire the skills IN THIS ORDER as you work through your skill tree to optimize your leveling as much as possible! The number the skill is placed in the list should be the order you get them in/the level which you acquired that skill point at.

This will cover all 58 skill points you get. You get 48 points when total when you hit level 50 and 2 points from completing renown in each zone, totaling 58.

This is what your ability hotbar should look like when using this early game Barbarian build

Playstyle

This is a pretty basic build with some basic resource management and proper buffing/rebuffing. We put multiple skills into generating Fury with Enhanced Frenzy, Rallying Cry, Power Leap and Prolific Fury, and dumping out damage with Hammer of The Ancients when your Fury is full. Activate Wrath of The Berserker against tough enemies to maintain high damage.

Your damage rotation should look like this:

  • Activate Rallying Cry
  • Generate Fury using Leap and Frenzy
  • Cast Hammer of the Ancients once Fury is full. Maintain Fury with aforementioned generators.
  • Kill weakened enemies with Death Blow to generate Fury, clear ads and reset Death Blow cooldown. Use Death Blow constantly in longer bossfights (essentially off cooldown).

Gear Preference

Since this is an early game/leveling build, there won’t be much optimizing using special effects here. The DPS value on each weapon is the most important. However, keep an eye out for weapons that give ranks to Hammer of the Ancients and Death Blow, Damage to Close, Slowed, Healthy and Crowed Controlled enemies, Vulnerable Damage, attack speed and Damage while Fortified, Berserking and/or Healthy.

And that’s it! Enjoy your new Barbarian build to dominate Diablo 4’s early game with, and come back soon for some late game builds!
