Best PvE Weapons to Get in Destiny 2: Lightfall

With how much loot there is in Destiny 2 right now, it can be hard to know which weapons you should be focused on getting. Not even mentioning the random, unique rolls for that weapon after you acquire it! Thankfully, I’ve gone in and acquired most, if not all, of the great weapons to use in PvE environments right now. If you want to know some of the best PvE weapons in Destiny 2 right now, read further!

Now, fair warning, some of these will be pretty hard to get. You want the best guns, you gotta beat the best content, and that includes things like raids, Trials of Osiris, and other, higher end content. We won’t be going over exotics in this article, as those remain set and once you get them, you have them, and you don’t have to worry about random rolls. Finally, these are for PvE ONLY, so PvP players, you’re going to have to wait your turn on this one.

Lets get started with…

Rufus’s Fury (Acquired from Root of Nightmares)

Best PvE weapons in Destiny 2: Rufus's Fury is a great workhorse, ammo-dumping machine for any loadout.

Rufus’s Fury has quickly become a staple in my PvE arsenal thanks to its great perk selection and its well rounded stats, namely in stability. This thing is an absolute laser beam, and it doesn’t take much to keep it on target. The perks you’re going to be looking for is anything that refunds or reloads automatically, such as Reconstruction, and either Hatchling or Target Lock in the 2nd slot. For the magazine and barrel, you’re going to be looking for anything that increases you’re magazine, and anything that increases range/stability. Its a great workhorse for any player looking for a reliable, mag-dumping auto rifle.

The Immortal (Acquired from Trials of Osiris)

The Immortal, despite being a PvP centric weapon, can still perform great in PvE

PvE bros, I am sorry to inform you that yes, the PvE perks on The Immortal make it worth getting. So, yes, you might have to suffer through a Trials of Osiris card or 2 to get one. The rolls you’re going to be looking for is anything that increases your magazine size and range, with Hatchling being a great perk to fit into the 2nd slot. Should Saint-14 has it as a rank reward again, just grind Trials until you get to the required rank and cash your unfocused engrams, you’re bound to get something good.

Commemoration (Acquired from Deep Stone Crypt)

Best PvE weapons in Destiny 2: Commemoration is a fantastic option for almost any activity with the right perk combos.

The revamped perk selection on Deep Stone Crypt weapons has made this machine gun into an absolute monster with the right combination. It is insane how well this thing performs in almost every activity. The perks I’ve enjoyed are Reconstruction and Killing Tally. If you don’t have one, Corrective Measure from Vault of Glass is still a fantastic option, but this thing is the real deal.

Iterative Loop (Acquired from Neomuna activities)

Iterative Loop is a great, easy-to-get option for fusion rifles

This one is a bit of a sleeper hit, considering a lot of Fusion Rifle dominance over the past few months. However, and you heard it here first, I really do feel that Iterative Loop is going to come into its own soon. The big perk you’ll be hunting for here is Voltshot. Iterative Loop’s origin trait, granting an extra tracking rocket on rapid hits, means not only are you going to be hitting whatever you’re shooting at with a full fusion burst AND a micro-missile, but you’re also Jolting them for extra follow-up damage. Keep an eye on this one in the coming months, and start grinding for one now. You won’t regret it.

Forbearance (Acquired from Vow of The Disciple)

Best PvE weapons in Destiny 2: Forbearance has been a dominant force in the energy slot for close to a year now, and for good reason.

Even with wave frames getting a potential nerf in the future, Forbearance will still likely stand atop a long list of PvE grenade launchers, and weapons in general. The add clear and survivability potential on this thing is insane, and you’re going to be looking for Ambitious Assassin and Chain Reaction on your roll. After that, you’re pretty much playing any enemy-clear sections of the game on easy mode.

Ignition Code

While hard to get, Ignition Code is an old but gold grenade launcher with some great combos.

This one is probably the hardest weapon to get out of the bunch, as its only available in Dares of Eternity right now, which has a weekly rotating loot pool. That means that, in some cases, it may take up to a month to even get a shot at this weapon! However, if you can somehow get one, this grenade launcher is worth it. Sporting some of the best perk combos in the game, I personally recommend either Field Prep for the extra ammo, or Slideshot for the reload bypass. Pair either of those 2 with Frenzy and you’re golden.

Acasia’s Dejection (Acquired from Root of Nightmares)

Best PvE weapons in Destiny 2: Acasia's Dejection makes a great workhorse in Solar builds.

A great trace rifle for any Solar build (But one I’ve been particularly enjoying on my Titan). This is an easy pick for both regular enemy clear and focused damage on stronger enemies. I’ve been really enjoying perks such as Reconstruction and Rewind Rounds paired with Frenzy, as it allows you to keep this weapon firing well past its regular magazine size. I would focus on anything that gets you a magazine size increase and that gets you some extra range or stability.

The Hothead (Acquired from Vanguard Engrams)

Best PvE weapons in Destiny 2: An image of The Hothead rocket launcher, a dominant DPS weapon currently.

Lately, rockets are the go-to DPS weapon, and at or near the top of the list is The Hothead, which can be acquired from focusing engrams at Zavala. While this may be the most popular right now, in my experience, any rocket with a damage buff perk such as Vorpal Weapon, Lasting Impression or Explosive Light, and/or a reload perk such as Clown Cartridge or Auto-Loading Holster can perform. If you don’t want a Hothead, an alternative I’ve been loving is a Vorpal/Auto-Loading Hezen Vengeance from Vault of Glass.

Regnant (Acquired from Season 20 activities)

An image of the Regnant Heavy Grenade Launcher

This is another case where its not so much the gun as it is the perks. Every heavy grenade launcher can perform currently but you’re going to want to be looking for damage buffs and reload/chamber size for perks. Regnant is definitely the newest and the most easily acquired out of the bunch, so if you’re looking for a grenade launcher, get to grinding some seasonal content and get yourself a Regnant.

These are just some of the great PvE option in Destiny 2 currently, and we haven’t even mentioned some new stuff such as Circular Logic, or an older, personal favorite of mine, explosive personality. If you have any other great options for weapons and weapon perks, feel free to let us know, and stay tuned for more Destiny 2 guides!
